Westland John Innes No.2 Potting-on Compost is specially formulated to feed and establish plants for healthier growth. Designed to support young plants during the potting-on stage, this compost ensures healthy root and shoot development. Enriched with potassium humate, a biostimulant, it promotes strong plant growth while improving soil aeration and nutrient availability.
This compost features a blend of peat and loam for nutrient and moisture retention, combined with sand and grit for excellent drainage. It feeds plants for up to 5 weeks and is ideal for vigorous plants such as tomatoes, cucumbers, geraniums, fuchsias, and most houseplants. The high loam content acts as a nutrient buffer, stabilizing plants in pots and containers.
Why UseJohn Innes composts, developed over 50 years ago, are based on a traditional recipe of loam, peat, and horticultural grit with added nutrients. Westland John Innes No.2 Potting-on Compost is a loam-based mix with naturally reduced peat, specifically designed for the growth and establishment of plants.
Its rich nutrient content makes it ideal for vigorous plants such as tomatoes, cucumbers, geraniums, fuchsias, and most houseplants. It is easy to water and re-wet, with the high loam content acting as a nutrient buffer to stabilize plants in pots and containers. Potassium humate enhances soil conditions and promotes the availability of micro-nutrients like calcium, iron, manganese, zinc, and copper.
When to UseJohn Innes No.2 Potting-on Compost can be used all year round, from January to December.
How to UsePotting:
- Thoroughly water the plant.
- Gently tap the pot to remove the plant and shake off loose compost.
- Place the plant in a new pot with fresh compost, fill gaps with compost, firm down, and water thoroughly.
Planting Out:
- Dig a hole approximately twice the depth and diameter of the root ball.
- Place the plant in the hole with fresh compost, fill gaps with compost, firm down, and water thoroughly.
Potassium humate, the potassium salt of humic acid, improves soil conditions by increasing aeration, making the soil easier to work with. It also enhances the availability of micro-nutrients such as calcium, iron, manganese, zinc, and copper, supporting healthier plant growth.
