First, Choose The Right Wood

The most common type of wood to use in the Enjoi firepits is firewood. To avoid lots of smoke and also get the maximum heat from your fire, it is important to use only dry, quality firewood. We would recommend using The Green Olive Firewood which the great benefit of using this firewood is that their moisture content is usually below 20%, meaning they require no further treatment and can be used straight away in your fire pit and giving them a longer burn time. Kindling wood is smaller and quicker to light, they are a great choice if you want to start cooking quickly.

What Else Will You Need?

  • Fire lighting cubes
  • Matches or lighter
  • Gloves - heat resistant, in case you need to move your grill or fire pit.
  • Tools - you may need something to move the firewood, as well as a metal spatula to move the food

Fire Bowl or Fire Pit?

So, what are the differences between cooking on the Enjoi Fire Pits and Fire Bowls

They offer very different cooking styles but both provide heat and easy cooking.

Fire Bowls: These have a cooking plate around the edge so that you can cook liquid foods and small chunk foods easily.

Fire Pits: Whilst these have a metal grill, great for bigger chunks of food, kebabs, and food that you want to add a charcoal touch to.

Light it up!

  1. Place 3-6 pieces of wood or kindling in your fire pit, stacked like a Jenga tower. Place a few lighter cubes around.
  2. Light the lighter cubes and leave for a few minutes, until it is burning well.
  3. Add 2-3 more logs to your fire - when adding more logs ensure plenty of air gaps to ensure good airflow.
  4. Continue to add more logs until the fire has a good base of heat.
  5. If you’re planning on cooking wait until the logs start to turn white. When they do, your fire pit is ready to start cooking on. Our stainless steel grills sit directly on the rim of our fire pits and are designed to take the heat of your fire.

Let's Get Cooking!

Marshmallows and s'mores: A classic camping idea, great quick sweet snack. Toast a marshmallow, then put a square of chocolate on top and two biscuits either side. We recommend using the Rocky Mountain Marshmallows from our Farm Shop to do it the American way! If you plan to be toasting marshmallows on a regular basis, try the Kadai Marshmallow Fork for multiple marshmallow toasting.

Kebabs and jacket potatoes: wrap up a jacket potato in foil in place it in the middle of fire pit or bowl, and leave for an hour. 15 minutes before the potato is ready, add some fresh kebabs from our Sedum Butchers, check out their amazing flavours, including - honey & mustard chicken, smokey bbq chicken, Thai chicken teriyaki duck, greek passion pork, and more! You can cook these on the fire pits or bowls, check out our Instagram reel with this idea!

Full English breakfast: The fire bowls are best to use for breakfast with the hot plate and save washing up several pans! Make sure that your fire bowl plate is hot enough before you cook. Start with sausages, turning them every few minutes to ensure even cooking. Then add the bacon and a halved tomato and turn every 5 minutes or as you see fit. Depending on how big you want your breakfast, you can add beans in a metal pot as well as mushrooms. When adding eggs, make sure you crack them away from the edge to avoid spillage. Make sure you have enough oil or butter on the hot plate before adding the eggs so that they don't stick and can be easily lifted off. Take a look at our Instagram reel to see the cooking in action.

Lamb burgers with tzatziki: You can find some delicious lamb burgers in our Sedum Farm Shop and cook them on the fire bowls or fire pits. Lightly brush with oil before placing them on the grill or plate and cook for around 7-9 minutes each side. Prepare the other ingredients by chopping a beef tomato and shredding some lettuce. Then get two brioche buns, we suggest Millers which can be found in our Farm Shop, and place them on the heat for a few minutes each side depending on how toasted you like your bread. TOP TIP: brush a little oil on both sides before toasting! Then take the bun and burger off the heat, add the tzatziki, tomato, and lettuce and enjoy! You guessed it...you can also find this one on our Instagram!
